Man of Steel (2013) is a reboot of the Superman saga, directed by Zack Snyder. It follows Kal-El/Clark Kent (Henry Cavill), a Kryptonian sent to Earth by his parents Jor-El (Russell Crowe) and Lara (Ayelet Zurer) as their planet faces destruction. Raised by humans, Clark struggles with his identity and powers. When General Zod (Michael Shannon) arrives to conquer Earth, Clark must choose to ally with his fellow Kryptonians or embrace his destiny as Superman.

As a new xenomorph begins killing the inmates, Ripley once again finds herself at odds with an alien (and the villainous Weyland-Yutani corporation).

Joe R. joins Spice World to go deep on Limitless, a movie in which an Italian man takes an 80mg Adderall and suddenly knows karate. We discuss Joe’s path from Ohio to Chicago to Thailand to Tampa, Donald Trump’s Sudafed habit, and the otherworldly allure of breast milk.

Getting Gynecological with Evelyn

Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner and Certified Nurse-Midwife Evelyn joins the cast to discuss David Cronenberg’s unhinged gynecological thriller Dead Ringers (1988). We discuss her unusual career path, the dangers of sociopaths in medicine, and the mysteries of the female bathing suit area. 
 
 
Dead Ringers (1988), directed by David Cronenberg, follows identical twin gynecologists Beverly and Elliot Mantle (both portrayed by Jeremy Irons). The twins share everything—including their medical practice and romantic partners. Confident Elliot seduces women, then passes them off to the introverted Beverly. Their lives spiral when Beverly becomes emotionally involved with a patient, Claire, and begins abusing drugs. As their identities blur and mental health deteriorates, the twins descend into a disturbing psychological and emotional breakdown. The film explores themes of identity, codependency, and madness, culminating in a haunting and tragic finale that blurs the line between self and other.
